Accessibility statement

Standard we aim for

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard referenced by the European accessibility requirements for ICT products and services (EN 301 549) and the Web Accessibility Directive.

What we have done

• The whole site works from the keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element and a skip link to the main content.
• Pages use a single, ordered heading structure, and landmarks for navigation, main content and footer.
• Body text meets the 4.5:1 contrast minimum, and larger text and interface components meet 3:1, in both the light and dark themes.
• Every meaningful image has a text alternative. Decorative graphics — the circuit and ECG ornament, for example — are hidden from assistive technology rather than described.
• Form fields have real labels, help text is associated with its field, and errors are announced and explained in words rather than by colour alone.
• Data tables have captions and header cells, so a screen reader can announce the relationship between a value and its column.
• Animation and smooth scrolling are switched off automatically when your system asks for reduced motion.
• Text can be resized to 200% and the layout reflows down to 320 pixels without loss of content or horizontal scrolling.

Known limitations

We would rather be honest about the gaps than claim full conformance:

• Some partner logos are supplied as bitmaps whose contrast we cannot alter without misrepresenting a trademark. They are shown on a white tile in both themes for this reason, and each carries a text alternative.
• PDF deliverables are produced by different partners and their internal accessibility varies. We are working towards tagged, navigable PDFs across the consortium. If a document is unusable for you, ask us and we will provide an accessible alternative.
• Video material published during the project will carry captions; older third-party recordings we link to may not.
• Every page is checked automatically against WCAG 2.1 A and AA on each build, in both light and dark themes, and currently passes with no violations. Automated testing catches roughly a third of real accessibility problems, so this is a floor rather than a guarantee. An independent audit and testing with assistive technology users have not yet been carried out.
